Th Us Navy published this video of some practice run of their M61 Vulcan gatling autocannon. The CIWS “Close in weapon system” is the ship last defense system. Used to protect the ship against incoming missile the canon also works on boats and planes. The system is radar guided and track projectiles or vehicles from miles away. Firing at 4,500 rounds a minute (works out to 75 a second), whether its a boat or a missile it is unlikely to keep moving after that. The video features a test on plane flying by and an incoming drone boat. The night shots of the US Navy gatling autocanon are particularly spectacular!
