The Palmer Johnson Supersport 48m (158′) is easily one of the most technically innovative and advanced yachts ever built. Take the hull form. Its trimaran at the stern, reverse bow forward, oh and it has a bulbous/knife bow (try and figure all that out).
From the PJ website.
A revolutionary hull design that combines a slender main hull that increases efficiency with sponsons that have a positive effect on stability, roll dampening, speed and power. The most power- efficient yacht around. Thirty plus Knots. With fifty percent less fuel. Transatlantic range. Great seakeeping means comfort. Three times more stable than a monohull. A wave piercing bow and ultra fine bow entry that reduces pitching. No slamming as yacht goes through waves and not over them. Carbon fibre construction means a lighter, stronger yacht with reduced operational, maintenance and life cycle costs. No corrosion, high fatigue limits.
Add to that the fact that she is built entirely in carbon fiber which is just amazing given the complicated shape. At 158′ with only a pair of 2,600hp MTU 16V 2000 M94 she reaches 30knots! That is unheard of. For example the 96′ Ferretti (960 series) with the same engines does the same speed. However the Ferretti is 56′ shorter.
I could go on an on but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Oh and you may also love this drone video of the boat taken during the Miami Boat Show.
