This December, traditional luxury sailing yacht Dunia Baru will be making her second trip from her home cruising grounds of Indonesia to the archipelagos of Myanmar (Burma). Having first visited in March earlier this year, feedback from owners and charter guests was such that a return trip to spend more time in this fascinating and remote part of the world was an easy decision.
A chain of over 800 ruggedly beautiful islands, Myanmar’s Mergui archipelago is largely unspoilt, having only opened up to tourists in 1997. The breathtaking diversity of flora and fauna on the islands make this area a nature-lovers paradise. Many of the islands are covered in thick tropical rain forests, with deserted white sand beaches sweeping into turquoise waters, while below the water, reefs and sea life thrive. The only people who live in the area are the Moken, fishing and free-diving sea gypsies who spend most of their life on water.
