When art meets the sea

When art meets the sea

I recently discovered the art of Valeria Golovenkina, an amazing watercolor artist. I would love to tell you her story but she will surely do it better than I could:

“I was born in Saint-Petersbourg, Russia. Well, I think I will begin with why and how I started painting. For five years I studied photography – I took macro photos, landscapes, then portraits. But this hobby did not bring me a real pleasure. In the summer of 2013 I discovered watercolor painting and oil painting. I needed one more year to understand: I’m in love with watercolor. I didn’t go to art school, except the art room while I was in elementary school. I do not remember anything from those lessons, except some vases, draperies and fruits, which stole my desire to paint. When I grew up, the interest in painting returned. I have started to attend master classes from different artists, to paint more, to experiment, to find my theme and my style. When someone asks me:” Why you paint the sea?” I answer :” Because my grandpa was a sailor and the sea is in my blood”

I’m inspired by travel, the beauty of the world, people who surround me. For live communication, I am willing to defer any business, even a picture;)

To get pleasure from my passion , I need to stop and look around, to notice beauty in simple things. For me it is important to take the time to thank God for the beauty that my eyes can see and and for what I can do with my hands. “
